Many years ago—perhaps more than twenty—Gianfranco Monacelli offered to publish a monograph on my work. I accepted his offer, but due to the usual professional and academic commitments, the project was put off until now, when the book is finally in the reader’s hands.
I believe it is important to explain that the book is not the traditional monograph envisioned so long ago; nor is it a simple anthology of my professional career.
