ROYAL COLLECTIONS MUSEUM IN ARQUITECTURA COAM FUNDAMENTOS 363.
"...Cities, like society, are in continuous development. They grow and renew themselves; they don´t stay frozen in time. Throughout history, architecture has left us many examples of this looking forward this progress. The new Royal Collections Museum doesn´t show itself to the city from the city as such. It appears clear and sharp from a distant view, from the west margin of the Manzanares river. What is perceived completes and unifies the base of the Palace-Cathedral set. Truly, the image of Madrid´s skyline is indeed changed, with respect, firmness, rigor and sensibility, without forging the moment. The new element adds another degree to the historical value of the set, and it achieves a sophisticated harmony with the classical composition of the façades of the Palace. Goya would happily paint the skyline , perhaps redoing the outline given by la Almudena" excerpt from "four Kings" article writen by Mónica Alberola and Chinina Martorell for Arquitectura 363.
